Gone are the scraped door jams and chipped paint resulting from the standard, plastic, lampshade-type collar that is known to damage surfaces every time Fido misjudges a doorway when he enters a room.<\/p>\n
With the inflatable collar, moving around is much easier and less encumbered than with the rigid collar. For a post-sterilisation wound (either castration or hysterectomy), the inflatable collar is ideal, making licking of the wound virtually impossible.<\/p>\n
For other types of wounds, such as on a leg or paw, a dog that is a real contortionist could possibly succeed in licking the area. For other wounds such as an ear hematoma, or eye problem, the inflatable collar is not recommended as it does not offer enough protection for the wound. For these types of wounds, the traditional plastic cone is the way to go.<\/p>\n
Every dog reacts differently to wearing an Elizabethan collar, no matter the type. Trial and error will sometimes be required to find the right tool for the job.<\/p>\n

Il ne s\u2019agit pas d\u2019une bou\u00e9e de sauvetage pour la piscine!<\/strong>\n\nNous avons test\u00e9 pour vous le fameux collier \u00c9lisab\u00e9thain gonflable sur Arthur, le Bouledogue fran\u00e7ais de Dr Gagnon suite \u00e0 sa castration. R\u00e9sultat : nous adorons! Fini les cadres de porte \u00e9corch\u00e9s par le collier traditionnel rigide en forme d\u2019abat-jour, les \u00e9cailles de peinture qui tombent du mur chaque fois que sa majest\u00e9 entre dans une pi\u00e8ce en \u00e9valuant mal sa port\u00e9e.\n\nAvec le collier gonflable, les d\u00e9placements sont beaucoup plus faciles et moins encombrants qu\u2019avec un collier rigide. Pour une plaie de st\u00e9rilisation (castration ou hyst\u00e9ro-ovariectomie), le collier gonflable pr\u00e9vient bien le l\u00e9chage d\u2019une plaie en zone abdominale et pr\u00e9-scrotale.\n\nSi toutefois la plaie \u00e9tait sur une extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 de patte, un chien le moindrement contorsionniste pourrait probablement arriver \u00e0 se l\u00e9cher. Aussi, une plaie d\u2019oreille (ex. chirurgie d\u2019h\u00e9matome d\u2019oreille) ou de paupi\u00e8re (ex. excision d\u2019ad\u00e9nome palp\u00e9bral) ou une l\u00e9sion oculaire comme un ulc\u00e8re corn\u00e9en, ne seront pas prot\u00e9g\u00e9es contre le frottage de face avec un collier souple ou gonfl\u00e9. Pour ces types de plaies, le collier traditionnel en c\u00f4ne de plastique demeure plus s\u00fbr.\n\n\u00c9videmment, chaque chien r\u00e9agit diff\u00e9remment \u00e0 un collier \u00c9lisab\u00e9thain, quel que soit le mod\u00e8le et il faut l\u2019essayer pour voir comment votre prot\u00e9g\u00e9 r\u00e9agira.\n\nDemandez \u00e0 un membre de notre \u00e9quipe si le collier gonflable serait une bonne option pour contrer le l\u00e9chage de plaie de votre compagnon.
