Spring is nearly here!

It is time to think of protecting your dog against parasites found in the environment (heartworm, intestinal parasites, fleas and ticks).

Mosquitos are responsible for the transmission of heartworm. The best way to prevent this disease is to test the blood every year and then to administer a preventive medication.

Intestinal parasites, fleas and ticks are contracted from a contaminated environment (parks, backyard and forest).

Ticks are more and more abundant in Quebec, particularly in the Monteregie. Ticks are found in long grass or woods and are active from March to December. They attach themselves to your pet for several days and may transmit Lyme disease. Effective prevention is available for dogs. Our veterinarians are available to guide you in choosing the best prevention for your companion animal.
